Lightweight by design

No Electron. No webview. Just a fast native app.

Many modern desktop apps ship a whole web browser inside them, and it shows in your memory and battery. XDM is a native desktop application: no Electron, no embedded Chromium, no hidden webview. It sits quietly in the background and leaves your computer free for actual work.

  • Small memory footprint. XDM 9 idles at about 30 MB of memory on Windows.
  • Doesn't slow you down. No browser engine running in the background, so your games, builds and video calls keep the CPU.
  • Starts fast, stays out of the way. Lives in the tray and only does work when you download.
Video downloader

The video you're watching, saved in one click

The XDM extension notices videos as they play and lists every available quality. XDM then fetches the stream segments in parallel and builds a single file you can play anywhere.

  • HLS (.m3u8) and DASH (.mpd) streams
  • Separate audio and video merged automatically
  • Paste a playlist URL with custom headers for advanced cases

Acceleration

Uses all of your bandwidth, all the way to 100%

Most servers limit how fast one connection can go. XDM downloads parts of the file over several connections at once, and when one part finishes, it splits the biggest remaining piece so no connection sits idle.

  • Adjustable connections per download
  • Automatic retries on unstable networks
  • Global speed limiter when you need bandwidth for other things
