Privacy policy for XDM on Android

This policy covers the Xtreme Download Manager app for Android (“XDM”, package com.xtremedownloadmanager.android), published by Team XDM. It explains what the app connects to, what it keeps on your phone, and what it shares.

Summary

  • XDM has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no crash reporting.
  • It sends nothing about you, your browsing or your downloads to the developer or to any third party. The developer has no server that receives data from the app.
  • Everything the app keeps stays on your phone, in storage other apps can't read.
  • It has no update check of its own; updates come from the store you installed it from.

1. What the app connects to

  • Websites you open in its browser, as any web browser does, including the cookies and data those sites set. Their own privacy policies apply there.
  • The servers of the files you download: the request needed to fetch the file, with the headers and cookies the page used for it, so the server returns the same file.
  • Your search engine (Google by default), when you type a search in the address bar.
  • Filter-list sites (such as easylist.to, filters.adtidy.org, ublockorigin.github.io and cdn.jsdelivr.net), about once a day on Wi-Fi, and only for ad-blocking lists you added yourself. The built-in lists ship inside the app and are not downloaded. These requests carry nothing about you.

2. What the app stores on your phone

All of it is in the app's private storage:

  • Your settings, and per-site browser choices (ad blocking, pop-ups, JavaScript, desktop mode).
  • The download list and what's needed to resume downloads, including the headers and cookies captured for them.
  • Browser history, bookmarks, cookies and site data, like any browser. You can clear history from the Library screen. Private tabs keep no history, and their cookies and site data are deleted when they close.
  • Certificates you chose to trust after a security warning (the site name, the certificate's fingerprint and the date). You can review and remove them in Settings.
  • Ad-blocking lists you added.

Downloaded files are saved in the folder you choose (Download/XDM by default). Uninstalling the app removes its private storage; your downloaded files stay where they were saved.

When you switch to the app, it checks the clipboard for a copied link and offers to download it. The clipboard is read on your phone only and is never sent anywhere.

3. Permissions

  • Internet and network state: to browse and download, and to wait for Wi-Fi when you ask it to.
  • Notifications, foreground service and wake lock: to show download progress and keep downloads running while the app is in the background.
  • Storage (Android 7 to 10 only): to save files in the Download folder.

4. Data sharing

XDM does not sell, share or transfer your data to anyone. Nothing leaves your phone unless you send it yourself, for example by attaching details to a bug report.

5. Children

XDM collects no personal information from anyone, including children. The app is not designed for children.

6. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new “Updated” date.
