Finish setup in four steps
- Click Add to Firefox above. The Firefox Add-ons opens in a new tab.
- Confirm with Add in the store and in the browser's prompt.
- Pin the XDM icon: click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar and pin XDM Integration Module. Detected videos appear there.
- Make sure XDM is running, then download any ZIP or installer. XDM's New download window should appear.
Firefox tips
- Site access: Firefox may install the add-on with access limited to some sites. Open
about:addons→ XDM → Permissions and allow access to all websites. - Private windows: on the add-on’s page, set Run in Private Windows to Allow if you want XDM there.
- Firefox ESR and forks (LibreWolf, Waterfox, Floorp) can usually install the add-on from the same page.
What the extension does
- Takes over downloads: when the browser starts a download of a supported file type (archives, installers, disk images, documents, audio and video), XDM downloads it instead, faster and resumable.
- Finds videos while you watch them. The XDM icon shows how many it found. Pick a quality and XDM saves it. See Download videos.
- Right-click options: Download with XDM, Download Image with XDM, Download all with XDM… and Download selected links with XDM….
Permissions and privacy
The extension needs access to the sites you download from, so it can see downloads and the cookies a site
requires. Everything it reads goes to one place only: the XDM app on your own computer
(127.0.0.1). It has no server, no analytics and no tracking, and it stays off YouTube completely.

Not working?
